March has just begun, which kicks off the start of Women's History Month. In celebration, the Women's Resource Center is putting on several events throughout the month of March, all celebrating local women who, in accordance with the national theme, advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion. You're watching the "Local News Network," brought to you by Serious Texas Barbecue and Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steak Burgers. I'm Sadie Smith. The first event was held March 7th for a wine and chocolate tasting held at the Animas Chocolate Company,

March 7th at the Animas Chocolate & Coffee Company, we will be pairing up chocolate and wine, and it's been a really fun event that's been going on for about five years.

Following the chocolate and wine tasting, the Woman's Resource Center will host a photo exhibit at the Durango Public Library.

So at the Durango Public Library, we are going to, it's a free event, and so on March 12th, there's going to be an opportunity for people in our community to visit the library to see showcased photos of women in our community who represent diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Also at the library, the Women's Resource Center will host a diversity panel on March 18th, addressing topics related to this month's theme of diversity, equity, and inclusion. On March 20th, they will celebrate with the Women Aid Fundraiser at the Public House 701, selecting an individual for a one-time grant through applications reviewed by the Panel and Board of Women Aid.

So this is a really great opportunity for community members to get involved with the Women's Resource Center through coming to the Women Aid. You can donate, you can show up to the event, it's very social.

To conclude Women's History Month, the Women's Resource Center will host the Extraordinary Women Award Dinner on March 27th at the DoubleTree Hotel.

Since that's our biggest event throughout the month. And so what we do is we put out an opportunity for people in our community to nominate women that speak to the theme, and so this year's theme being diversity, equity, and inclusion. We will have a recipient of the winner and then we host an event at the DoubleTree where there's a dinner, there's a presentation. We have a keynote speaker. It's a really good time to come out and socialize with community members and support the WRC in that way.

Mark your calendars and join the celebration. More information about these events can be found on the Women's Resource Center website. For more information about this and other stories, visit durangolocal.news. Thank you for watching this edition of the "Local News Network." I'm Sadie Smith.
